Nothing is more thrilling than a powerful smartphone that has fancy features and at the same time pocket friendly. Xiaomi company managed to hit a new milestone with the Redmi note 8 a budget phone that is subtlety and affordable at the same time.

Redmi note 8 launched on August 2019 and the immediate successor of Redmi note 7S ticks almost all boxes of mid ranger phone which makes it perfect. Since Redmi note series is considered one of the best-in-class performance smartphones, the following are the niceties features that Redmi note 8 has:

Body and Display

The Redmi note 8 body measures 158.3×75.3×8.4mm with a 6.3-inch display that is covered with a scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 5 flanked by relatively thin bezels on three sides with 82% screen-to-body ratio. The flat back is made by Gorilla Glass 5- which is rare on a budget phone- that appears purple hue in the lower side and turquoise shade on the upper side. Other colors include moonlight white, space black and Neptune blue.

Redmi note 8

Unlike its predecessor, Redmi note 8 has a rare Quad camera that brings 48MP main camera with Samsung GW1 sensor; 8MP ultra-wide sensor that has a 120-degree field view, 2MP macro lens that allows you to zoom as close as 2cm to the object, 2MP depth sensor makes bokeh detection fairly good. It supports 4K video recording at 30fps. The 13MP selfie camera takes relatively good photos and 4K videos at 30fps, full HD 30/60fps, slow motion 120fps.

Performance, battery and storage

The OS used is android 9.0 Pie, MIUI 11 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 6655 chipset based on 11nm architecture, CPU is supported by Octa-core, and improved graphic performance supported by Adreno 610 GPU. The phone has a 4000mAh battery that has 18W fast charging capability, fast charger, USB type C and does not support wireless charging which is okay for that price. The phone is available in the following variants 32GB 3GB RAM, 64GB 4GB RAM, 64GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM. It has a dedicated microSDXC slot, a loudspeaker, 3.5mm jack and supports dual SIM. The phone has capacitive fingerprint scanner and face unlock capabilities.

Even though Redmi note 8 misses some ticks of the total package of a mid-ranger phone like not using android 10, lacks NFC feature, heavy weight and lacks water resistance capacities, the phone hardware offers a great value for your money without any compromise.
